Lowary picks up third straight win to complete sweep of New Mexico State
LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Missouri pitcher Paige Lowary continued her successful weekend as Missouri defeated New Mexico State, 5-1.
After earning wins in both Friday and Saturday's games versus the Aggies, Lowary allowed zero earned runs and struck out seven in 5.2 innings of relief to pick up the win on Sunday as well.
Lowary entered the game after starter Danielle Baumgartner loaded up the bases in the second inning. After entering the game, Lowary quickly got two outs to strand the runners and get the Tigers out of a jam.
New Mexico State had two chances to make a comeback in the sixth and seventh, but Lowary stranded the bases full in each inning.
Offensively, the Tigers scored three of their five runs via the long ball. First baseman Chloe Rathburn had a two-run home run in the third inning, and right fielder Emily Crane added a solo shot in the fourth.
Freshman Regan Nash and sophomore Morgan Walters each added an RBI as well for Missouri.
With the win, the Tigers improve to 20-4 on the season. Missouri will now head to El Paso for a doubleheader with UTEP on Monday, March 21.
