COLUMBIA - Going grocery shopping Tuesday could impact more than just your own home. Lucky's Market and The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri have joined forces to help provide food to low-income families.

Every month, Lucky's Market partners with a local organization and donates a portion of its sales for a cause. As part of Impact Day, 10% of the store's total sales will assist the food bank's mission to provide Buddy Packs for schools within Boone County.

Jessica LaPhilliph, store director of Lucky's Market, says the environment and community involvement are two of the store's top priorities, which makes Impact Day that much more important.

"The more sales we make tomorrow, the more money that gets invested into the store, the more we can give back to our community," LaPhilliph said.

According to the food bank's director, Lindsay Lopez, as the school year begins, the food bank will distribute 7,500 Buddy Packs every week.

"Because of our purchasing power, we can take one dollar and turn that into 21 dollar's worth of groceries," Lopez said. "So even a small amount that someone can contribute through Impact Day is really going to go a long way in helping out the community."

Impact Day runs all day at Lucky's Market.
