Mall Holds Family Fun Events
The Columbia Mall is creating a family friendly atmosphere with the kick off of Neighborhood Nights on May 4. Neighborhood Nights are free events to bring families and the communities closer. Store owners and patrons are pleased with the concept.
"They really are, they've been pleased so far with our parental guidance program that we've implemented and this is just another phase to create that family friendly atmosphere here at the mall and they're excited to see what's going to happen," said Sonja Derboven, Columbia Mall Marketing Manager. "We want to create a great family friendly atmosphere, and we want to encourage people in the community to come out to the mall and know that it's going to be a great place to bring their family, whether they're dining or shopping, or just looking for something to entertain the kids."
On May 4, that something was in the form of educational children's toys and a live jazz band that captivated the young audience.
"It's just kind of nice to have something fun to do in the evening that's not around the TV, or around a video game...just some community activity," said Brenda Worstell, Columbia resident.
Neighborhood Nights will be held every Friday and Saturday night.
