Man accused of killing parents declared unfit for trial
JACKSON (AP) — A southeast Missouri man accused of killing his parents has been committed to a mental health facility after being declared unfit to stand trial, at least for now.
The Southeast Missourian reports that a judge on Monday approved the order for 38-year-old Thomas Wayne McRoy. His competency will be re-evaluated in May.
McRoy is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the November 2015 deaths of Larry McRoy and Roxann McRoy. Both were fatally shot in the living room of their home in Miner, then the bodies were dumped into the Mississippi River. Both bodies were later recovered.
