COLUMBIA - A Columbia man was arrested Sunday evening on suspicion of first-degree burglary.

CPD officers were dispatched to Scottish Rites Masonic, located at 33 Masonic Drive North, just before 7:00 p.m.

According to a statement from the CPD, a member of the lodge responded to a building alarm and found Edward Fritz, 34, hiding inside without permission to be on the premises.

The statement adds that Fritz ran into the woods north of the lodge.

A police K9 was called to the scene and located Fritz in the wood line north of the lodge. He was then taken into custody.

KOMU will continue to update this story as we gather more information.
