Man Charged in Shooting

Cole county authorities have charged a man in a friday-morning shooting at a jefferson city steak 'n shake. The shooting occurred in the parking lot shortly after 1 a-m friday morning. Another person was dragged from a car. Police have charged 29-year-old jason choate with first degree assault and first degree armed criminal action. Each of those charges could bring as much as a life sentence if he's convicted. Police say choate told them the shooting victim threatened his brother, and that he was trying to protect his brother.
