Man Charged in Violent St. Louis Robbery
ST. LOUIS - A 24-year-old St. Louis man is charged with a violent street robbery, and police believe he may be responsible for up to nine similar crimes.
Vincent Newman was charged Thursday with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. Police say he stole a cell phone and tablet computer from a 20-year-old woman on Oct. 16. Even though the victim complied with his demands, he shot her in the left arm and left cheek.
Newman was released from prison on Oct. 6 after serving time for robbery and drug possession. Police are trying to determine if he is responsible for a series of other recent robberies, all within a mile of his home. In some of those cases, the victims were also shot.
