Man connected to Audrain County homicide sentenced to 9 years in prison
MEXICO - A judge sentenced a man to nine years in prison for drug trafficking after his arrest in connection with a 2017 murder in Audrain County.
Justin Traughber was sentenced on November 16, nearly a year and a half after deputies found the body of Leon Wilder on the side of a rural road. An autopsy determined Wilder had been shot to death.
Court documents said Wilder had been kidnapped and shot in the head before his body was left along the road. Traughber admitted to trying to buy methamphetamine from Wilder, and stole money from him as well.
Two other people, Richard Henry and Arline Diedrich, were arrested and charged in connection with the homicide. Henry is set to stand trial in January; Diedrich pleaded guilty to drug trafficking in August and was sentenced to ten years in prison.
