COLUMBIA - A St. Charles man who allegedly provided police with a false alibi for a murder suspect appeared in court Friday. Glenn Anderson attended a pre-trial hearing at the Boone County Courthouse. Anderson and his attorney requested the hearing be moved to next Friday, June 28.

Anderson is charged with hindering the prosecution of a felony. Authorities said Anderson provided a false alibi for James Thompson, who is charged with first degree murder. Thompson allegedly killed Brian Daniels on April 9, 2013.

The probable cause statement said Anderson originally told authorities Thompson arrived at Anderson's home around 8:00 p.m. on April 9. Police said Anderson's cell phone records contradict that statement. Anderson later told police that he had lied in the original questioning and Thompson was not at his home when he went to sleep at 11:00 p.m.

Police said Anderson also called Thompson to alert him the Columbia Police Department had questioned Anderson about him.

Christopher Hurt is also charged with hindering the prosecution of a felony in allegedly giving false statements to authorities in connection to the same murder.

Hindering the prosecution of a felony is a Class D felony, which could result in up to four years in prison. Anderson is being held on $25,000 dollars cash only bond.
