Man Dies After Police Confrontation
ST. LOUIS (AP) - A man has died during a confrontation with St. Louis County police. But it's not clear whether 36-year-old Shawn Spiros killed himself or an officer did.
St. Louis County Police Officer Randy Vaughn said in a news release that a caller told police that a neighbor seemed intoxicated and was "acting crazy" Saturday night. Spiros was waving a gun around in his front yard and yelling for someone to call police.
When officers arrived, Spiros was sitting on a home's front porch.
Police said Spiros ultimately pulled a gun from his waistband, raised it toward officers and then at his own head. Vaughn says it appears that Spiros and an officer fired at the same time.
The St. Louis County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death.
