ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis police say that a man stabbed in the neck outside the main city library downtown has died at a hospital.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the stabbing happened around 11 a.m. Wednesday outside the St. Louis Public Library at 13th and Olive streets.

The attacker ran away and remains on the loose, but police say they know the suspect's identity. The victim's name has not been released, and police didn't indicate a motive.

Library spokesman Gerald Brooks told The Associated Press that the attack involved a jealous ex-boyfriend who saw his former girlfriend with another man. He emphasized that the incident "had nothing to do with the library but just happened outside on our sidewalk."
