Man Pleads Guilty in Heroin Overdose Death
ST. CHARLES - A St. Charles man faces sentencing in October after admitting that he delivered a fatal dose of heroin.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 24-year-old Thomas Lucas Jr. pleaded guilty Thursday in St. Charles to involuntary manslaughter and drug distribution. He and his girlfriend, 24-year-old Whitney Patrick, were charged last summer after Jemil Francis Ely died of an overdose.
Lucas told police he knew that Ely had overdosed at least twice before. Ely was a married father of three.
Patrick's case is still pending.
