EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. - A man was sentenced today to seven months in federal prison on charges that he threatened to castrate President Bush while the man was being treated at an Alton mental hospital. Arafat Nijmeh had pleaded guilty to two felony counts of threatening the president. But the same federal judge who sentenced the 27-year-old Nijmeh then freed him. Nijmeh was credited with eight months he spent in federal custody since being charged. Nijmeh formerly lived in Belleville. O'Gara says Nijmeh wanted to accept the plea agreement and move on. He allegedly first made the threats to Alton Mental Health Center workers and again to Secret Service agents.
