Man shot in Columbia neighborhood
COLUMBIA - An 18-year-old man was shot Sunday afternoon at Grand and Forest Avenue in Columbia.
Brian Tate of the Columbia Police Department told KOMU 8 News the victim was shot in the upper abdomen and transported to an area hospital. The victim's condition wasn't immediately known.
Sgt. Michael Perkins of the Boone County Sheriff's Department told KOMU 8 News his agency was called to the scene to help with crowd control, but the Columbia Police Department is leading the investigation.
Police said the male subject was found lying on the ground shortly before 4 p.m.
According to a news release, police had no suspect information and were continuing to locate and interview potential witnesses.
