Man Who Allegedly Tried to Carry Gun on Plane Charged
KANSAS CITY (AP)- A 26-year-old man is in federal custody after police and screeners at Kansas City International Airport reported finding a loaded handgun in his carry-on bag and more than $30,000 in cash in his possession.
Anthony Winn, of Kansas City, was charged Thursday with being a felon in possession of a firearm and having a concealed weapon in his luggage. Winn was stopped Wednesday trying to board a flight to Minneapolis. Police conducted a search after the screener noticed the gun. Officers reported finding about $4,900 in Winn's pants pocket and more than $26,000 in the pockets of three pairs of jeans in the bag.
Winn remains held pending a Jan. 3 detention hearing. A call to his federal public defender Thursday was not immediately returned.
