Mario McKinney and Tray Jackson sign letters of intent

COLUMBIA - The Missouri Tiger basketball team added a couple of new faces on Wednesday.

Versatile forward Tray Jackson and power guard Mario McKinney, both a part of the 2019 recruiting class, signed their National Letters of Intent to play and go to school at the University of Missouri.

Jackson, who is ranked No. 56 in ESPN’s 2019 Top 100, is a 6-foot-8 four star forward addition to the Tiger program. He averaged 13.3 points and five rebounds for the Meanstreets on the Nike EYBL circuit.

In the 16 games he played in, he recorded 218 points and shot 38.7 percent from behind the arc. Jackson will return to the 2019 class and will spend a prep school season this year at Sunrise Chrisitian Academy in Wichita, Kansas.

Mario McKinney was the No. 1 recruit in the state of Missouri’s class of 2019 by both ESPN and 247Sports. The four-star recruit for the Tigers, is ranked No. 19 in the country at the point guard position and No. 125 overall.

McKinney was a key contributor to Vashon High School, leading it to back-to-back Missouri Class 4 state championships in 2016 and 2017. In his junior season, he averaged 17 points, six rebounds and four assists. He also earned second-team St. Louis All-Metro recognition.

Missouri has a family tie with McKinney. His cousin, Missouri guard Jimmy McKinney, played for the Tigers and garnered 1,146 career points from 2002-06. McKinney selected Mizzou over six other schools, Louisville, Kansas State, Auburn, Oklahoma State, Iowa State and VCU.
