Men's Team Gets Mixed Results in Evanston
EVANSTON, IL -- The University of Missouri men's team saw success on Saturday in the final day of a two-day meet against Northwestern University and the University of Denver. The Tigers left Evanston, Illinois after, beating the University of Denver 230-138 but fell to Northwestern University 180-188.
In the first of two sessions on Saturday, the Tigers began the day on a high note with a second place finish in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. The team of Ryan Sellers, Igor Kozlovskij, Neil O'Halloran, and Ramom Melo finished in 1:30.75 for second place.
O'Halloran also saw success in the 100 Yard Butterfly, finishing first in a speedy 49.48, and in the 200 Yard Butterfly, with a second place finish in 1:49.18.
In the 800 Yard Freestyle, the relay team of Eegan Groome, Kozlovskij, O'Halloran and Alex Glogoza finished first in 6:44.45. Groom also finished second in the 200 Yard Freestyle, notching a time of 1:41.48 while Kozlovskij finished first in the 100 Yard Breaststroke in 55.77.
In Saturday's second session the Tigers continued accumulating points with a second place finish by Groome in the 1650 Yard Freestyle Event in 15:40.40 and a first place finish by Melo in the 100 Yard Freestyle event in 44.95.
Missouri swimmers finished in the top two spots in the 200 Yard Breaststroke. Kozlovskij placed first in 2:01.42 while Sam Tierney finished second in 2:01.88.
In the final relay of the day, the Tigers finished second in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay. The team of Kozlovskij, Joe Hladik, O'Halloran, and Melo finished second in 2:59.63.
In the diving pool, the Missouri men continued to accumulate points with a first place finish by David Bonuchi with 385.35 points.
The Missouri Tigers will next face Drury University in Springfield, Missouri on February 4th.
