COLUMBIA--Government agencies met this morning to discuss how they plan to deal with snow removal in mid-Missouri this winter.

The meeting at Columbia's Activities and Recreation Center included MoDOT, Columbia Public Works, the University of Missouri, and the Columbia Police and Fire Departments, among others.

MoDOT spoke about the challenges for clearing major state roadways while keeping within a limited budget.

Columbia Public Works is adding two new snow plows for this winter season, and all the snow removal trucks are now equipped with GPS. Public Works will eventually use the GPS to provide Columbia residents with real-time tracking of when and where the department is clearing streets.
