Mid-Missourians Still Upset About Columbia's Dinner Train
COLUMBIA - At Monday's city council meeting Gretchen Maune from Mid-Missouri Advocacy Coalition spoke in front of council member bringing to light her disappointment of use of city dollars to fund the Columbia Star Dinner train. The newly refurbished train was back on the tracks last October, but is not accessible for citizens with disabilities.
"To fund a public project that excludes a certain proportion of society, we don't feel that is right," Manue said.
She said that is was not the first attempt MMAC has made to reach out to city council disappointed on the use of city money. One month ago the coalition wrote a letter to Assistant City Manager Tony St. Romaine, but received no response from him.
This evening Maune heard no response to her testimony.
