JEFFERSON CITY -Missouri State Senator Mike Parson announced his candidacy for the Governor's office Thursday. Parson made the announcement in his hometown of Bolivar.

Parson represents the state's 28th District including Pettis County. Before former State Auditor Tom Schweich's suicide, Parson had endorsed his race for Governor.

His announcement makes it a three-way race for the Governor's office.

Parson served as the Polk County Sheriff for twelve years. He currently serves as the Senate Majority Whip.

Parson was elected to the state House in 2004 and the state Senate in 2010. He owns and operates a cow-and-calf operation near his home.
