Missouri Improves in National Gymnastic Rankings

COLUMBIA -- The Missouri Gymnastics team has stepped up in the national rankings this week. The Tigers sit at No. 22 in the nation according to the GymInfo National Top 25 Rankings. Missouri started the season ranked No. 26 in the GymInfo Preseason Coaches' Poll.

After starting the season with two wins against Iowa State and Southern Utah, Mizzou boasts a 194.100 team average. The Tigers put up a 195.525 team score against Southern Utah, which tops the Tigers' 2011 season high score of 195.400.

The Tigers are ranked No. 23 in the nation on vault with a team average of 48.788 after posting a 49.075 against Southern Utah. The score also tops last year's season high score, 49.050. On the bars, Mizzou checks in at No. 23, with an average of 48.575. The Tigers' bars score against Southern Utah also topped last year's season high team score. The Tigers clock in at No. 15 on the balance beam, in a three-way tie with Denver and Ohio State.

Missouri will host No. 16 Denver on Friday at the Annual Pink Out meet. The Tigers are joining with the University of Missouri Health Care Ellis Fischel Cancer Center to support breast cancer awareness and research. Mizzou will donate one dollar of every ticket sold to the cancer center, and the first 500 fans to arrive at the Hearnes Center will receive a free t-shirt. The meet is set for 6:30 P.M. on Friday, January 20.
