Missouri Jobs Grow Despite Harsh Winter Weather
JEFFERSON CITY - The Missouri Department of Economic announced Tuesday job growth in Missouri despite harsh winter weather.
The Missouri unemployment rate was at 6 percent in the month of January, which was the lowest since June 2008. The U.S. unemployment rate was 6.8 percent in January. Missouri's nonfarm payroll employment grew by 1,000 jobs in January according to the Missouri Department of Economic Development.
The durable goods manufacturing industry gained 2,800 employees and the support and waste management services industry gained 2,400 employees.
The leisure and hospitality industry had the largest growth with an addition of 5,100 jobs.
