Missouri Man Missing Since Aug. 20 Found Dead
ARAB, Mo. (AP) - Investigators believe a 24-year-old southeast Missouri man who was missing since Aug. 20 likely died accidentally.
The body of Matthew Willmirth was found Sunday along the banks of the Castor River between Arab and Greenbrier.
Bollinger County Sheriff Leo McElrath says it appears the death was accidental but an autopsy will be performed.
The Southeast Missourian reports (http://bit.ly/onUft5 ) that police had taken WIllmirth into protective custody before his disappearance because he appeared to be under the influence of drugs. But his mother signed him out and Willmirth later walked away after an argument with his brother near Zalma.
McElrath says Willmirth likely succumbed to the heat or could have fallen into the river and drowned.
Toxicology reports aren't expected for six weeks.
