Missouri opens season with veteran D-line
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - After the loss of Michael Sam and Kony Ealy to the NFL, No. 24 Missouri is hoping to again turn heads and lead the Southeastern Conference in sacks and tackles for loss.
Markus Golden highlights a defensive line that features three seniors and a junior atop the depth chart. Golden recorded 55 tackles - including 13 for loss - and 6.5 sacks last season as a backup.
Tackles Matt Hoch and Lucas Vincent have 34 combined starts while end Shane Ray played as a reserve in all 14 games last season. Sophomore tackles Harold Brantley and Josh Augusta are also expected to receive playing time.
Defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski said coaches have been working on a playing rotation ahead of Saturday's opener against South Dakota State.
