Missouri's Stevens Wins U.S. 50M Backstroke National Title
INDIANAPOLIS - Mizzou Swim & Dive senior Hannah Stevens won the U.S. 50-meter backstroke national title at the Phillips 66 National Championships Thursday night in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Stevens entered the finals as a second seed, and ended up edging out 2016 silver medalist and 2017 NCAA national champion Kathleen Baker en route to a Championship Meet record time of 27.63.
Former Missouri swimmers Lauren Reedy and Michael Chadwick are expected to join Stevens as probable members of the 2017 U.S. World Championships team.
The FINA World Championships will take place July 14-22 in Budapest, Hungary.
