Missouri Senate to Resume Budget Discussions Wednesday
JEFFERSON CITY - The Missouri Senate will pick up the budget talks again Wednesday. Senators recessed at around 3 pm on Tuesday after debating well into the early morning on Monday.
Some of the items up for debate include cutting funding for health care for blind Missourians. One senator does not want to give an additional two million dollars to Southeast Missouri State University.
Another item consists of taking money from casinos, approximately 30 million dollars, and giving them to fund veterans retirement homes.
The senate must agree to a deal by Friday at 6 p.m. If they don't, governor Jay Nixon could call a special session.
