Missouri softball drops series against No. 17 Ole Miss
OXFORD, Miss. - The Missouri softball team dropped a road series against No. 17 Ole Miss over the weekend.
The Tigers started out the series playing a doubleheader on Friday.
Mizzou came from behind late in game one, scoring four runs in the sixth to tie the game. A silent seventh inning from both teams carried the game into extra innings. Ole Miss won the game in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the eighth with a final score of 7-5.
Game two on Friday proved to be no less painful for the Tigers, being shut out by the Rebels 1-0. Despite being out-pitched by Ole Miss, sophomore Cassie Gasper still made an impression, pitching a complete game only allowing one run with four strikeouts.
The Tigers bounced back in game three on Sunday, winning the game 5-2. Senior Kolby Romaine led the offensive charge for Mizzou with a multi-hit day, one run scored, one RBI and a walk.
Up next, the Tigers will be back at home for a three game set against Texas A&M beginning on Thursday. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
