Missouri State Highway Patrol releases Thanksgiving traffic statistics

COLUMBIA - The Missouri State Highway Patrol dealt with nine fatalities and three drownings over the Thanksgiving holiday.

The holiday was considered from 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019 to 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019.

The preliminary traffic statistics were reported as followed:

  • Crashes - 404
  • Injuries - 166
  • Fatalities - 7
  • DWI - 94
  • Drug Arrests - 63

Statistics from the 2018 period show troopers investigated 139 more crashes, three more fatalities and 26 less injuries. There were eight less DWI's and 4 more drug arrests.

No fatalaties occured in the Troop F, Jefferson City area. One fatality occurred in the Troop B, Macon area.

Three drownings occurred on Nov. 30, 2019.


There were zero boating crashes, fatalaties or boatinig while intoxicated arrests this Thanksgiving period.

These statistics could change if later deaths occur or further reports are made by departments.
