COLUMBIA - The State Historical Society of Missouri gave families the chance to celebrate Halloween early with Trick or Treat through Missouri History. The event helped families explore Missouri history and natural history.

Exhibits at the event showcased Missouri bats, different kinds of pumpkins, ghosts around Missouri and "Kid's Cave", a kid friendly tunnel.

The event included crafts, candy, digging for fossils and a haunted art tour through the art gallery. Art Museum Curator Joan Stack led the tour dressed as a ghost and explained the pieces in the gallery.

This is the third year for the event. Last year, the fire in Ellis Library prevented the Historical Society from hosting the event. Stack said the previous event had more than 200 visitors.
