Missouri Tech Expo showcases new technologies
COLUMBIA - The 2014 Missouri Tech Expo will feature "The Next Big Thing."
Chief Scientific Offer of Modern Meadow Gabe Forgacs and CEO of ImpeDx Diagnostics Steve O'Connor will showcase their new technologies Thursday at the Christopher S. Bond Life Sciences Center on MU's campus.
Forgacs created a 3D bioprinter that "allows culturing of leather and meat with without requiring the raising, slaughtering and transporting of animals". O'Connor is developing a product that will reduce the time it takes to recognize bacteria in blood for hospital testing labs.
Both of these technologies were created with MU technology. The event is dedicated to advancing MU fueled discoveries, inventions, and innovations.
The expo will also featured a "Tiger-Cage" where technology reps will pitch their emerging technologies to investers who will decide whether to invest in their technological discoveries.
CEO of Flow Forward Nicholas Franano and Founder of Newsy Jim Spencer will give the keynote presentations on their companies and other speakers will be featured throughout the day.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. in Monsanto Auditorium. The expo runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. being with breafast and ending with a reception featuring MU Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin.
