Missouri Unemployment Drops in July
JEFFERSON CITY - The July state jobs report released Friday shows Missouri's unemployment rate went down by a tenth of a point from the June level. The unemployment rate for Missouri in July was 8.7 percent.
The U.S. unemployment rate was at 9.1 percent in July. Since January, Missouri's unemployment rate has dropped eight tenths of a point.
The report also revises the employment figures for June after more information became available about the effects of the Joplin tornado. The report says the decrease in jobs was about 3,000, instead of the preliminary estimate of 9,000.
