COLUMBIA - Gary Pinkel has officially coached his final game. The Missouri football program announced through a press release Monday that it would not accept a bowl bid this season.

Athletics Director Mack Rhoades said finding the team's new head coach is now priority No. 1.

"Our focus remains on identifying the right leader for our program and moving forward with the transition process," Rhoades said.

In the meantime, Missouri named Quarterbacks Coach and Associate Head Coach Andy Hill as the team's interim head coach. He will carry out head coaching functions until the team hires a permanent replacement.

This is the second time in four years that the Tigers have failed to make a bowl game. The last time came in their inaugural season in the SEC in 2012.

With 40 bowl games this season, 80 Division-1 teams have to play in a bowl game. That means a handful of 5-7 teams will play an extra game, even though a .500 record has traditionally been a prerequisite to making a bowl game.

Missouri will not be one of those teams.
