Missouri Wrestling Drops Regular Season Finale
STILLWATER, OK -- The No. 10 Missouri wrestling team fell in their last dual contest of the regular season on Friday night, losing to No. 3 Oklahoma State by a 32-9 final. The Tigers finish the regular season with an overall record of 14-5 and a conference mark of 3-3.
The Cowboys jumped out to 20-0 lead after four matches. Missouri forfeited at 125, and No. 1 Jordan Oliver scored a technical fall on Eric Wilson, 19-4. No. 13 Josh Kindig then pinned Brandon Wiest in the first period, and No. 2 Jamal Parks defeated No. 13 Kyle Bradley, 10-3. Mizzou finally got on the board at 157, as No. 15 Drake Houdashelt defeated No. 19 Albert White by a 2-1 score. Both wrestlers scored an escape by Houdashelt picked up 1:08 on top to score the riding time point. The win was Houdashelt's second of the year over White.
Missouri's other victory came at 184 pounds, as Mike Larson avenged a loss to Chris McNeil earlier in the month in Columbia. McNeil jumped ahead to a 2-1 lead after the first period. McNeil started the second period on bottom, and with 28 seconds left frame, Larson was able to put McNeil on his back for the fall. The Tigers begin postseason action next Saturday, March 3, as they host the Big 12 Championship at the Hearnes Center.
