ST. LOUIS (AP) - About 80% of Missourians should be able to dial 211 this summer to be linked up to health and social services. A person who needs help paying the rent or seeking drug counseling could call the line. So could a senior citizen looking for a volunteer opportunity. They would be matched up with programs in their area to meet their needs. The help line is already available in 17 Missouri counties in the Kansas City region. Officials with the United Way of Greater St. Louis and the Missouri Foundation for Health will contribute more than $8,000,000 to fund the expanded 211 line for five years. The program should be statewide in 2008.
