Mizzou baseball drops series finale to No. 6 South Carolina
COLUMBIA - The Missouri baseball team dropped the series finale against the No. 6 South Carolina on Sunday, 7-5 but still managed to get the series win. With the loss, the Tigers are now 18-6 on the year, and hold a 5-1 mark in SEC play.
Brett Bond got things started for Mizzou with a shot down the third base line to bring home Brett Peel for the first run of the game. In the next at bat, Zach Lavy hit a double to left and drove in two runs to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead after the first inning.
South Carolina tied the game in the sixth inning and then took the lead in the seventh.
Trey Harris brought the Tigers within one run in the eighth inning but the Gamecocks added an insurance run in the ninth.
Mizzou will host a midweek series with Arkansas-Pine Bluff starting on Tuesday at 1:05 p.m. CT.
