Mizzou baseball upsets No. 6 South Carolina
COLUMBIA - The Missouri baseball upset No. 6 South Carolina, 3-2, on Friday night to improve to 4-0 in the SEC and 17-5 overall on the season. Friday's win marked the first win over a top-10 team since March 16, 2013, when the Tigers defeated the Gamecocks, 4-0.
Junior right handed pitcher Reggie McClain threw 8.1 innings, allowing only five hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts and a walk. He picked up his fourth win of the season and continues to lead the SEC in innings pitched at 46.2. Junior closer Breckin Williams relieved McClain in the ninth.
Freshman Trey Harris helped lead the Tigers to the win as well, moving his RBI total to seven in just four SEC games. Junior Zach Lavy scored the game-winning run on a two-out single in the seventh inning.
Mizzou and South Carolina face off again on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT on the SEC Network. Freshman right handed pitcher Tanner Houck will be on the mound for the Tigers.
