Mizzou gymnast Morgan Porter suspended after arrest
COLUMBIA - The University of Missouri announced the suspension of sophomore gymnast Morgan Porter Tuesday, after she was arrested by the university's police department for fraudulent use of a credit or debit device.
Porter was booked at Boone County Jail at 10:59 p.m., and released less than an hour later on bond. MUPD identified Porter as a suspect for an alleged fraud incident on June 8 at an off campus location.
Porter, 19, is from Overland, and coming off an SEC freshman gymnast of the year season. She qualified for the NCAA championships last year, where she finished 23rd. Porter was also names to the SEC All-Freshman team.
Fraudulent use of a credit or debit device is a Class A misdemeanor in Missouri, unless the value exceeds $750. According to MU Police, the alleged fraud in this case was for more than $500.
