Mizzou gymnastics loses battle of tigers in Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE, La. - The No. 11 Missouri gymnastics team suffered a 197.425-195.425 loss to No. 2 LSU on Friday night in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
LSU (5-0, 4-0) has now won 24 straight meets in the Pete Maravich Center. LSU has now earned a team score of 197 or better in 13-straight meets, one shy of the record set between the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
Mizzou (5-3, 0-3), has now lost three consecutive meets after starting the season with five consecutive wins. All losses have come since SEC Freshman of the Year Morgan Porter tore her achilles against Alabama on Jan. 20.
LSU swept Mizzou, as Missouri scored lower in all four events. Mizzou only reached the 49.000 mark on one apparatus, the vault, scoring 49.125 in the second rotation.
Mizzou did get career-high performances from Britney Ward and Aspen Tucker on bars, who both posted 9.825.
Mizzou is in action next back at home on Friday, Feb. 10 when the team hosts No. 16 George Washington, Iowa State and Lindenwood from the Hearnes Center in a quad-meet.
