Mizzou's Clara Young earns fifth place finish
TALLAHASSEE, Florida - Freshman Clara Young continued to lead Mizzou in the third round of play at the Seminole Match Up Sunday. She shot 2-under par through the third round, closing out the tournament 1-over par. She ended the tournament with two birdies in her final nine holes. Young's play earned her a fifth place individual finish.
As a team, Mizzou shot 5-over par in the third round, shooting 300-299-293 in the entire tournament. They finished 28-over par, and earned a ninth place finish as a team.
26th-ranked tournament Furman took home the title after a 7-under par team finish in the third round. Both No. 17 Virginia and No. 9 Mississippi State closed the tournament 19-over par to tie for second place.
Sophomore Jess Meek shot 3-over par, finishing 11th. She shot the first two rounds 73-72, and was 2-over par in the third round. Michelle Butler and Laura Kraft tied for 43rd overall, shooting 14-over. Butler recorded three birdies in her first nine holes of the day.
Senior Alina Rogers was 1-under par after the first nine and finished 2-over. Rogers was 15-over throughout the entire tournament to finish in 46th place.
The Seminole Match Up was played at Southwood Golf Course a 6,236 yard, Par 72 course.
The Tigers will continue their spring season at the Julie Inkster, February 23 and 24, in San Jose, California,
