Mizzou snaps record losing streak with win against Florida
COLUMBIA - Missouri entered the night riding a program-worst 13 game losing streak. Florida head coach Billy Donovan entered the night with 499 career wins. Something had to give.
In the end, it was the Tigers who pulled away with a 64-52 victory at Mizzou Arena.
The Tigers were carried by freshman guard Namon Wright. Wright had a career-high 28 points for Missouri and went 6-8 from behind the three point line. Wright's 28 points were the most scored by any Tiger player this season. The previous high was 27 from Johnathan Williams III against Mississippi State.
The Tigers took the lead for good on two free throws from Montaque Gill-Caesar at the 8:14 mark in the second half.
Missouri shot 70% from the free throw line en route to the victory. Johnathan Williams III and Keith Shamburger went a combined 14-19 from the charity stripe.
The win gives the Tigers a 2-13 conference record and a 8-20 overall record.
Missouri's next game is Saturday against Georgia in Athens.
