Mizzou soccer drops yet another one goal game
Baton Rouge, LA - Two early goals by LSU were too much for the Mizzou soccer team (5-7-2, 2-3-1 SEC) to overcome as they fell in Baton Rouge 2-1 on Sunday. LSU was clearly the better team in the first half, controlling possession throughout and scoring their two goals in the first 25 minutes. The second half was a different story, as the black and gold fired 13 of their 16 shots and put constant pressure on the LSU back line. Julissa Cisneros finally broke through for Mizzou in the 87th minute with a corner kick goal that cut the LSU lead to 2-1. Mizzou couldn’t break through in the waning moments, however, and lost its second consecutive road conference game.
Mizzou soccer will have a full week off to prepare for Sunday’s home matchup with an Auburn squad that has struggled to keep the ball out of its own net during conference play.
