Mizzou soccer falls at home to Alabama 2-1
COLUMBIA - Missouri hosted the Alabama Crimson Tide Thursday night as the Tigers tried to increase their chances to get into the SEC tournament this season.
Alabama would be the first to strike in the game as Carlee Giammona scored within the first 2 minutes of the game against walk-on goalkeeper Gillian Schulte to give the Crimson Tide the 1-0 lead.
Later in the first half, Sarah Luebbert was fouled in the penalty area to give Mizzou a possible penaly kick to tie the game, and Julissa Cisneros stepped up for the job as she nailed the ball into the right corner to tie it for the Tigers1-1.
The game would become choppy between the two teams as there was a combined 25 fouls on the game, 13 by Mizzou and 12 by Alabama, with five yellow cards handed throughout the match.
The Crimson Tide would clinch the game in the 2nd half with a penalty kick goal by Forward Riley Mattingly as Alabama defeats the Tigers 2-1.
Missouri falls to 7-8-1 on the season, 1-6-1 in conference and will travel to College Station to face the Aggies of Texas A&M on Sunday.
