Mizzou Students Come Back to New Commons
COLUMBIA - Students returning to class at MU Tuesday will find a new place for study and recreation. The T.A. Brady Commons had been a staple on campus for decades, but that piece of campus took a leave of absence while under construction for the last couple of years. Upon returning to school for spring semester, Mizzou students will enjoy a new version of Brady Commons, complete with brand new amenities and dining options.
Brady Commons is the last branch of the new Mizzou Student Center that is now open on Rollins Avenue across from the Student Recreation Center. The commons has numerous restaurants, entertainment options such as pool tables and shuffle board, and lounge areas. All the furniture in the new commons is completely new.
Aside from the usual Missouri Tiger theme found in many buildings on campus, Brady Commons also features numerous pieces of art of Beetle Bailey. Bailey is a cartoon character created by Mort Walker, a University of Missouri alumnus.
Employees told KOMU 8 News that they hadn't seen a large amount of business since the new commons opened last week while school was on break, but that they expect to see more student traffic as classes begin.
