COLUMBIA - Missouri Women's Golf will host its first Big 12 Championship at the Club at Old Hawthorne this weekend as the Tigers welcome a talented field, highlighted by seven programs ranked among the Top 50 nationally in the latest Golf Week / Sagarin ratings.

Free to the general public, the 2011 Big 12 Championships will be a 54-hole event played over three days. One round will be played each day and tee times begin at 8 a.m. off of holes No. 1 and No. 10. Iowa State is this year's championship front-runner. The Cyclones are ranked No. 21 nationally, just ahead of No. 23 Texas, No. 25 Oklahoma and defending champion, No. 27 Texas A&M.

Missouri will be paired with Kansas State and Nebraska on Friday. The Tigers tee off hole No. 10 beginning at 8:50 a.m. Missouri qualifiers for this weekend are: Hannah Lovelock, Nicola Race, Kate Gallagher, Taylor Gohn and Marissa Cook.

Just freshmen, Gohn and Gallagher are coming off excellent outings at the Baylor Spring Invitational. Gohn tied for 26th overall with a three-round score of 232, while Gallagher, a native of Savannah, Mo., tied for 29th with a 54-hole total of 233.

Lovelock has been Missouri's top performer all spring. Despite missing the fall due to injury, the Surrey, England, native paces the club with a 76.2 stroke average. The junior's top finish this spring came at the Mountain View Classic when she tied for 23rd thanks to a pair of even-par 72s.

Colorado's Jessica Wallace is the Big 12's top-ranked individual heading into the weekend. The CU standout is ranked #44 nationally, just ahead of Texas A&M's Katerina Ruzickova.
