Mo. Deputy Killed While Responding to 911 Call
MINERAL POINT (AP) - Authorities are searching for a 30-year-old man suspected of shooting and killing a Washington County deputy who responded to an emergency call.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper Juston Wheetley says Washington County emergency crews were responding to a 911 call of an unconscious person early Saturday near the small town of Mineral Point.
He says 31-year-old Deputy Christopher Parsons was shot and killed by someone outside a nearby mobile home when crews were loading the unconscious person into the ambulance.
Wheetley says the suspect is identified as 30-year-old Gary Sancegrow. He says Sancegrow was wearing camouflage clothing when he fled on foot into a heavily wooded area. He says Sancegrow and Parsons didn't know each other.
Wheetley says Parsons was shot with a rifle, and that Sancegrow is considered dangerous.
