Mo. Education Commissioner to Attend Obama Speech
JEFFERSON CITY - Missouri Education Commissioner Chris Nicastro plans to be at the White House when President Barack Obama announces planned education policy changes.
Obama was set to announce Friday that states will be allowed to seek federal exemption from some requirements of the No Child Left Behind law.
States would have to meet conditions such as establishing standards for college preparation and making teachers and administrators more accountable.
Nicastro was among 22 state education leaders and others invited to the White House for the announcement.
