Mo. Regulators to Get Update on Nuclear Safety
JEFFERSON CITY (AP) - Missouri utility regulators get an update Wednesday on safety at nuclear power plants. Operators from the Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant in Kansas and the Callaway plant in central Missouri are scheduled to speak at 9:30 a.m. to the Missouri Public Service Commission in Jefferson City.
The presentation will be open to the public and can be viewed on the commission's website at www.psc.mo.gov
Nuclear power is getting attention in Missouri this year as electric utilities push legislation letting them charge customers the cost of getting an early site permit for a possible second nuclear power plant in the state.
Currently, Missouri law bars utilities from charging customers for the costs of a new power plant before it starts producing electricity.
