Mo. Secretary of State to Observe Nigerian Vote
JEFFERSON CITY (AP) -- Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan is heading to Africa as an observer of the presidential election in Nigeria.
Carnahan will be part of an international team observing Saturday's voting for fairness.
Nigeria's 2007 presidential election was marked by ballot shortages, voter intimidation and theft of ballot boxes. Some registered voters were denied a chance to choose a candidate.
A statement from Carnahan's office said she has experience training government leaders in seven countries, including parts of Eastern Europe after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
