MOBERLY - People who walked around in Moberly Municipal Auditorium Monday wore a green ribbon to symbolize Children's Mental Health Week.

Although Moberly has held some activities like this before, this is the first time for an event for the entire county. The theme of this event was "Mental Health in the Lime Light," and organizers want the public to take the slogan as a call to pay more attention to children's mental wellness.

"We want people to learn the symptoms of illness. The sooner children get treatment, they will recover better." said Ann Elliot, one of the organizers of the event.

Organizers quoted numbers they say show about one out of every four children has some symptoms of mental illness. They says mental illness can be cured just like other illness.

"We want children to do something interesting to keep mental wellness. It's a good way to help them understand the world, and work out pressure." said Elliot. Organizers hosted games during the event, looking to provide fun and education for children attending.
