It started at about 1:30 p.m., when a tip led officers to Steven Alvaro Garza, who's wanted on drug charges. The Randolph County Sheriff's Department, along with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, helped police during the standoff.

One neighbor said he saw the whole thing before police evacuated nearby houses.

"The officer, he walked on over and he asked me, 'What's going on?' And I said, 'Well, the guy you're looking for, he just tried to make a run for it, but he ducked back into the house.' He said, 'You sure?' I said, 'Yeah, I'm sitting right here looking at him.' I said, 'He's sitting there in the house.'"

A Moberly police detective talked by phone with Garza, who surrendered peacefully. No one was hurt .
